Axed: So You Think You Can Dance: Results show

So You Think You Can Dance will be back for its 9th US season, just without that extra Results show.

So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted on the weekend that the Results Show, which announces eliminated dancers, is no more.

“#FOX have cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD. At least we have another season at the end of MAY,” he tweeted.

It’s not clear how the show will incorporate the change, but presumably such eliminations will be announced at the top of shows, following a week of audience votes.

“Don’t worry #SYTYCD fans. I’m thrilled we have a new series. We’ll do our best to find some great talent starting next week in Atlanta,” he wrote.

In Australia, ELEVEN had been airing the Results show as part of the weekly dance-offs anyway.

The show will return for a ninth season.

  1. FOX are crazy… The one show that had an interesting results show! This will make the performance show a min 2 hours each week.

I wonder if FOX has other plans for Cat Deeley, such a classy and popular host

  2. Doesn’t that mean that a dancer rehearses for a week all for naught? I guess they still have to dance or it will throw their partner out. I guess that means that they will do the elimination at the bottom of the episode like in DWTS.
    kthxbye
