Oops. Bad Boys, bad promos
Nine plugs Bad Boys with Will Smith but ends up screening Bad Boys with Sean Penn.

Nine promos slipped up yesterday when they plugged the 1995 film Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
It actually screened the 1983 film Bad Boys starring Sean Penn instead.
Seven owns the rights to the 1995 film.
Maybe Nine forgot to send itself an Amendment?

maybe blockbuster gave them the wrong DVD…to throw in the old JVC DVD player…
This is an odd one – GO! played the 1995 movie with Will Smith at 9.30pm last night?
Maybe the promo editor googled the details of Bad Boys and that’s what came up.
Incidentially, the 1983 ‘Bad Boys’ is the film debut for Alan Ruck.
And now Bad Boys II is playing on GO! as I type this… very confusing, no wonder Nine made the mistake!
it would never happen at TEN because they know the details of all their movies, all 6 of them.
At least we now know Ten no longer has the rights to the Will Smith version… wasn’t that one of their constantly-recycled movie titles for a while? I suppose Will Smith etc. will miss the constant flow of royalties cheques now it’s gone to Seven.
bindi.. There are Very few promos cut to promote old movies played at 11.20.. besides promos can only be made from tapes that physically exist at that channel.. or they use promos that they made previously when they would have had a licence to play them. The mistake was most likely made by the Nine programming department . The same place that regularly schedules movies that they don’t have current access to.
You’d think that someone might actually check the availability dates first, wouldn’t you?
9 probably doesn’t even know what movies it owns.
The excitment continues…..
Doesn’t worry me, they ended up screening the better movie.
actually, Nine does own the rights to the first movie… (which is why they play Bad Boys 2 and almost every other Sony picture on Nine) but for some reason 7mate aired it… in Fullscreen! maybe Nine actually thought they were allowed to air it now, guess not.
Im sure Nine will get to air it at some point, just now sure why 7 has some rights
to Sony films. I guess they couldn’t think of any Universal movies to air on 7mate.
“They obviously couldn’t handle the truth.”
😆 good one!
I didn’t even know there was another movie with the same name, apart from Bad Boys 2. But really Nine, not having the rights and they still put up the wrong details, who’s running things over there?
Rotflmao is that a first? I think tv guides have screwed up their listings by putting the wrong details but for the channel itself to go to the effort of cutting a promo and airing it multiple times without noticing, wow. Amateur hour.
If it isn’t Big Bang or 2.5 Men it isn’t part of their core programming so they really don’t care…
a pleasant mistake
They obviously couldn’t handle the truth.
Love the attention to detail.
