Which is nuts they headed out at sea. And if the footage from the bridge is to be believed because it took awhile for the Captain to fully accept what had happened.

But I think we were mainly talking about where the ship ended up i.e. near the coast. At least that’s what I think deedeedragon’s was talking about. But even with that it still would of been extremely difficult to evacuate everyone. Just the number of people would of ensured that plus half the lifeboats surely would of been out of action at least. As well as other human weaknesses involved including the Captain doing the reverse of Captain Smith and abandoning the ship and passengers. Although Captain Smith wasn’t perfect. Sorry for the length.

What David said although I obviously haven’t seen the documentary but I have been interested in the Titanic since childhood on and off over the years. So as soon as I saw the news it just seemed like history repeated (but not completely ) . I’m glad they weren’t fully out at sea because that would make it worse. But even if something is parallel to something else it doesn’t mean it’s exactly the same. Considering the amount of people aboard I’m glad it wasn’t.

    1. I was pretty sceptical about the Titanic parallels too, but having watched the doco I have no doubt it was terrifying for those involved. It didn’t just list where it was. It kept sailing out to see after its accident then as it got worse it started to head back. It’s not much good being close to shore if you can’t get out of the deck you are on and there are no lights, not enough lifeboats and the captain has gone etc. Watch for yourselves and make up your own mind.

  3. I think Titanic because of it mainly being caused by human action they hit something and ripped a gash along the side of the ship. Plus Poseiden Adventure is fictional and as far as I know no freak wave was involved. Unless my memory is faulty. I’ll grant you it didn’t split into two or three and it did tilt . Although it does seem freaky for them to be almost one hundred years apart and by the year it was i.e. 1912 & 2012 . I’m hoping 1914 doesn’t repeat however.
