Angus McLaren turns empty-nester in Rafters

Packed to the Rafters' Angus McLaren is the latest cast member to take time out from the hit Seven series.

2012 will see more change for the cast of Packed to the Rafters with Angus McLaren taking time out from the hit series.

Former cast-mate Jessica McNamee told TV Week that McLaren had let slip to her that he had left the show.

But a Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight McLaren was having time off during the fifth season and was already back shooting subsequent episodes this week.

It isn’t yet clear how permanent his leave is.

Jessica Marais, who played Rachel Rafter, left screens last year for US acting opportunities while Hugh Sheridan will also pursue US opportunities.

A Seven spokesperson said Rafters had always been a series about ’empty-nesters’ and that none of the cast wanted their characters to be killed off.

McLaren is a member of the band Ballet Imperial, his other passion besides acting.

Packed to the Rafters returns with a 2 hr. premiere next Tuesday night at 8:30pm.

  1. Well im looking foward to the new season. Im interested to see the tom storyline and it looks like Nathan does come back. Also it will be nice to see the story focus on the other characters such as Jake, Coby, CArbo and Retta.

  2. I am glad that in the programmers wrap it was revealed that Rafters will have a full season consecutively. New characters in Season 5 will hopefully inject new life (e.g I am looking forward to Brooke Satchwell). PLus with the loss of Jessica Marais and the interruption of Season 4, 7 will hope that viewers will tune in and others return. I am glad that Ch7 appear to have listened to complaints about the season 4 debacle!

  3. Then why was Zoe’s character killed off?

That’s when the show jumped the shark according to friends of mine who used to love this show. Just end it already

  4. I say this show will be axed by yearend…only because with the main cast leaving the show will not be the same. Channel 7 has a new drama lined up….is this a replacement for PTTR????
