New UK comedy from Inbetweeners stars

Former Inbetweeners stars Simon Bird and Joe Thomas have a new comedy series set for Britain’s Sky 1 HD.

Chickens features three young men in a world of women during World War I. They play conscientious objectors during the First World War.

The pair will be joined by up-and-coming actor Jonny Sweet.

Channel 4 is understood to have decided not to proceed with the series so it was picked up by Sky.

Lucy Lumsden, the head of comedy at Sky, said, “We have fallen in love with those naughty Chickens and think our customers will do too. We are delighted to give such a talented bunch a home on Sky 1 HD.”

Chickens will go into production in December 2012 for broadcast in 2013.
