One Direction, Seal set for Logie Awards.

First performers and presenters are named as Logie season draws closer.

UK boy band One Direction are now confirmed to perform at the 54th TV Week Logie Awards, along with superstar and The Voice mentor, Seal.

One Direction were widely tipped to perform given their sell-out Aussie tour sees them performing in Melbourne on the night after TV’s annual award nights. Liam, Louis, Harry, Niall and Zayn shot to fame on Britain’s X Factor. As well frenzied fans dominating Twitter, tickets to their Australian tour sold out in less than three minutes.

Seal, also due to begin a Soul 2 Tour, is also confirmed.

“The 2012 TV Week Logies will be the biggest and best show yet,” editor Emma Nolan says. “Get set for some amazing performances and surprise wins. We can’t wait!”

TV Week has also revealed the first of their list of 2012 presenters.

They include Shaun Micallef, Adam Hills, Julia Morris, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee plus Dave Hughes.

All nominees will be revealed by co-hosts Natalie Gruzlewski and Dr Chris Brown this Sunday at the Park Hyatt, Sydney ahead of the big night at Crown on Sunday, April 15.

TV Week also indicates “voting was up 19 per cent on valid votes for the same period last year.”

  1. Teh Internetz are Squeeing at the thought of these fellows with an inability to go in another direction being on the Logies. Twitter is all a tweet with fangirlies asking how to get Logies tickets. Perhaps they can get seatwarmer jobs for when Z listers are taking Bathroom “breaks”

  2. ….and after acquiring the event and begrudginly inviting the other networks not a single Logie goes to the Nine Network. A room filled up with Nine staff and hangers on who have no reason to engage or clap and the whole thing is flat as a pancake…..just saying!

And ABC award winners all have the worst tables at the back of the room meaning it takes them simply ages to get up on the stage, out of breath, to say something vaguely intelligent about their show! Plus ca change….it’s always the same!

  3. God the Logies are so stuck in the 70’s… Name any other TV award shows that have musical acts. Im sure they just go to the archives and grab the 1974 Logies rundown each year and go with it…

Host with an ordinary opening monologue – Tick
International music acts that have nothing to do with TV but are touring – Tick
International “stars” to have awkward banter with host – Tick
Over the top promotion for upcoming Logie Host network – Tick
Below average set that looks likes something from the 80’s – Tick.

I might just send in my resume to be EP for next year… its not that hard at all
