Returning: Shameless

Shameless returns to SBS ONE early next month with an extended run of 22 episodes.

UK drama series Shameless returns to SBS ONE early next month.

The eighth season will see an extended run of 22 episodes as well as marking its 100th episode.

The series kicks off with a Chatsworth Estate party, and it’s not just any party – it’s Frank’s stag night. He’s getting married to the love of his life, his romantic narcoleptic third bride-to-be, Libby.

Then, as the clock strikes midnight, Frank disappears. The mystery of Frank’s whereabouts is a veritable magical mystery tour into the previously unexplored outer-limits of his drink and drug-addled mind.

With Frank missing, a dark cloud spoils the party spirit when a previous Mrs Gallagher returns. Yes, Monica is back and set on laying claim to her family.

9:30pm Monday April 9 SBS ONE.

  1. Absolutely wrapped with this news – been watching from the start and it never ceases to surprise. Not bad considering the number of changes to the cast. Can’t believe there haven’t been 100 episodes in the first 8 series. I take Brekkie point about a decline in quality over 22 eps – just hope it’s not too bad.

  2. Wow. SBS have taken over a year to screen this. It’s already available on DVD. Series 9 is already up to ep 11. The US series, as was with US Skins was just terrible.

  3. Not any more I’m afraid – there was a noticeable decline in quality with the switch to 22 episodes, although there are the odd high points – especially the 100th episode – which remind you of how good it can be.

We’re half way through the ninth series now and most fans agree it times for C4 to let it go.
