Big Bang bluff: Part 2

Yup. Nine pulls plans for a first-run Big Bang next week.

Is this where I say “I told you so….?”

Nine has pulled plans to air a first-run Big Bang Theory episode next Monday night.

As I tipped on Saturday, there was little chance Nine would screen a premiere episode in non-ratings, when it could net them 1.3m viewers or more. Highly illogical.

Like tonight, it will now air a rerun in the slot.

Meanwhile it has also yanked a first run Mike and Molly episode that was scheduled for 8pm this Wednesday replaced with -you guessed it- a Big Bang rerun.

  1. Too much of this show. It’s Time sometime stepped in to find a long term solution for Nine’s 7pm woes while the Block is on the air and get cracking on making it go to air once the home renovating show ends.
The only reason other than the four geeks that it does so well is how crap their none news opposition Home and Away has got off late.Honestly what would you watch see Four Geeks that set a good example for the youth of today or a bloody thug river bikie gang.

  2. See this is why i don’t trust Nine with anything. They say its new then sometimes hours or even when we go to tune in it turns out its nothing but a repeat again whatever the show.

  3. Goodness, did they have to yank Mike & Molly after just one week? Sure it is not good as nines other 3 sit-coms, but if they can’t show it non- ratings when can they?

  4. @ Craig Even if they slip below 500k viewers, they will still turn a much larger profit than airring a new episode of another show that will get 1m viewers. Repeats cost Channel 9 something like $10k to bring to air. I can imagine easily getting $150k advertising revenue from that investment. Unless your show rates better than the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony, then 1500% profit margins aren’t accessible.

@ ryaneco Because fat people metaphors are so 1990s. The 2010s will be littered with bad, tired, overused sex and toilet metaphors. The theory is if you keep throwing them at the wall eventually one will stick. When it does, repeat it until it becomes propaganda. When it does become propaganda, trademark it, patent it, sue anyone who uses the same letters in their life as the letters used your phrase and then sell t-shirts. (This is also known as the Apple-profit-model)

  5. Nine, the Big Bang Network!

I love the show but seriously Nine hasn’t learnt a thing, one day the re-runs will start to slip below 500k and they will need another show to flog, right now they have nothing to replace it!

Oh and yes why aren’t they showing the new ep this week? My guess is we will not see this until after Easter, now I’ve crunched the numbers and if they bring bag the show on the 16th then they can show all 5 remaining eps of S5 without a break, fast tracking the last 3 less than a week after the US.

  6. I dont get why nine can’t run mile and Molly they have the most successful sitcoms out of the US in their lineup but due to the over reliance on big bang they all fail, they need to set up a comedy block similar to one they had years ago when friends was airing on a Monday night
