Glee will cover Gotye’s hit “Somebody That I Used To Know” in it’s episode airing in Australia next week.
This isn’t the first time Glee has covered an Australian artist (Olivia got Physical…. I think they’ve done Air Supply… maybe Rick Springfield?) but it must be the first time an indie artist gets the treatment. And a contemporary hit rather than a flashback.
The song by Melbourne-based Gotye, featuring Kimbra, has been a huge hit in Australia, the UK and the US.
In Glee it will be sung by Darren Criss, click on the clip as long as you don’t mind being Spoiled.

Actually, #3 on Billboard this week and still top of the World Music Charts.
142 million youtube hits.
$$$$$$$$$
This is one of those songs where you hear it once and go, meh, hear it again and start bopping your head and then hear it again and you’re screaming Somebodyyy like a crazy person, lol.
Grammy nom wouldn’t be unsurprising Song/Record of the Year.
Just checked youtube and Gotye’s Aria’s performance has 3,204,415 views. Who said the Aria’s don’t rate?
Good performance of a terrible song. Hopefully they never do ‘Pumped Up Kicks’.
@Belinda good point! TEN will probably play the whole scene/song as a sneak peek.
And Gotye still climbing the US charts with this track at number 4 this week on the Billboard chart after hitting number 1 in the UK and all over Europe.
Well that sounded pretty good to me.
This version is ok – nowhere near the power and strength of the original, but not bad by any means
If you want a truly horrendous version of this song, type “Lindsay Paveo NBC The Voice” onto youtube and see her cover of the song. It’s like nails on a chalkboard
This shows what a smart move it was to add Kimbra. She takes it to another level.
2 very good looking lads singing the song well and moving the story along nicely
What a nice looking pair of TV brothers.
I bet Ten will spoil this in their ads anyway.
That sounded awful, particularly Criss.
For every song a Glee cover improves, there are about 5 it leaves in their wake.
Matt Bomer is one talented guy.
