Fame (the remake) back on the box
Hands up who has watched the original Fame movie and the 2009 remak, please?

I have such fond memories of the original Fame movie (and for that matter even the TV series) that I haven’t brought myself to watch the 2009 remake.
And I certainly didn’t go to the stage show, which only sang the title track. Pffft. Clearly a rights issue not including Out Here On My Own, I Sing The Body Electric and Hot Lunch Jam.
TEN is set to screen the movie next week at 9pm Friday June 1st.
I see it has some great names including Kelsey Grammer, Bebe Neuwirth, Charles S. Dutton, Megan Mullally and even Fame original Debbie Allen. But is it any good?
Rotten Tomatoes rates Alan Parker’s 1980 original at 80% and this remake and 25%.
Be keen to hear from anyone who watched both?

I loved the original, never seen the remake. Same with Footloose.
I saw the stage show sometime around 1999-2000 and it was the worst stage production I’ve ever endured.
Was a fan of the original series and movie but wouldn’t bother with the remake.
Absolutely loved the original movie, and the tv series even more. I haven’t seen the 2009 remake, but may watch it next Friday.
I saw both and I think Rotten Tomatoes are on the money although I may have given the original 85%.
The remake was lousy imo.
I also really liked the TV series so that may tell you something about my taste, but it was good.
I watched the remake with the Mrs. It was terrible.
I have not seen the original nor the TV Series.
