Go Back to Where You Came From wins Golden Rose at Rose D’Or Festival

Updated: Go Back to Where You Came From has won the top prize at the prestigious Rose D'Or Festival in Switzerland overnight.

Updated: It’s proving to be a triumphant week for SBS.

Go Back to Where You Came From has won both the Golden Rose and the Factual Award at the Rose D’Or Festival in Switzerland overnight.

The Golden Rose is the Festival’s “Best of 2012” prize.

The awards are highly prestigious on the international circuit and Go Back was the only Australian entry to be nominated.

This is the first time SBS has won a Rose D’Or, and in the history of the festival only a handful of Aussie shows have ever been nominated.

Other shows to win were Pan Am, Eurovision Song Contest, Horrible Histories, The Million Pound Drop Live and Dream High.

  1. Wow well done to all involved. Thoroughly deserved.

This is where I say I chose Go Back as my top pick for 2011 with a 5 star review. A few years ago I gave ABC’s Eternity Man 5 stars and it too won at Rose D’Or.

  2. It also won the Golden Rose – the award for best programme of the entire Rose D’Or.

Well done to Cordell Jigsaw – flying the Aussie flag with an incredible piece of TV.
