Houvardas, who plays Nick ‘Carbo’ Karandonismwill go overseas when shooting for the fifth season wraps next month.

“I will be over in the States in the next couple of weeks and my next step is to get an agent over there and see what I can do,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I’ve been there a couple of times and I want to open a door there. I want to do a film.

“As an actor you can work anywhere and you have to create these opportunities and America is a big opportunity.”

Former cast members Zoe Ventoura and Jessica Marais tried their hand at US roles, with Marais scoring a role in Magic City.

With Hugh Sheridan due to exit after a handful of episodes, Angus McLaren is the only original Rafters offspring returning as a regular in Season 6. James Stewart is also set to depart. But seven have affirmed Sheridan, Stewart, McLaren and Ryan Corr will all appear in Season 6.

It begins shooting later this year.

  1. The soooner the Rafters neigbourhood becomes a Carbo free zone, the better. Of the secondary characters, he and Retta are by far the most lame and need to be written out post haste so viewer agony can cease. All the best trying to crack the notoriously difficult US market – he’s going to need bucketloads of luck with that.

  2. This has to be the most annoying character on television….go overseas…good riddance…the show’s days are numbered with most of the cast leaving…he will come back to Australia…with his tail between his legs…as they all do….
