Renewed: Community, Parenthood and 30 Rock for a final season

NBC renews three popular shows, but signals the end for 30 Rock next season.

NBC comedy 30 Rock is to have its seventh and final season.

The renewal is also for a shorter season of 13-14 episodes.

Parenthood also wins a new season. Thanks to a big DVR play Parenthood is actually NBC’s second-highest-rated drama only behind Smash, which enjoys a lead-in from The Voice.

Community has been renewed for new season with a 13-episode order from NBC. The question for the the fourth season is whether it will return with both creator/showrunner Dan Harmon and co-star Chevy Chase on board, following their publicised feud.

  1. It’s gonna be even tougher for NBC to climb up the ladder again without 30 Rock (and Harry’s Law), even though it wasn’t especially highly rated (sometimes dipping under 3 million in the US), by far the best NBC offering.
Unfortunately, gone are the days of ER, Friends, Frasier, Cheers etc.

As much as I love both NBC and Nine, both are hanging on by a thread (and for both networks, that thread is ‘The Voice’, haha)!

  2. They’ll probably all get picked up for full seasons.

the 13-14 episodes is purely based on the network knowing they want to tinker with the schedule but not exactly being sure what they do. If they renewed everything for full seasons right away they’d pretty much have everything the way it was with little flexibility.

30 Rock has been pretty good this season, better than the previous couple.

I still like the office, although it’s years are numbered.

Community is great! 6 seasons and a movie!

  3. Thanks for that David, 3 of my fav shows.

I heard Parenthood was renewed for 15 eps, last year it was 16 but they added another 2 hope they do the same again or more.

Hope 30 Rock goes out on a high and love Community, good to see it back for another season.
