Home & Away films in Melbourne

River Boys become Yarra River boys as Seven's soap heads south for the second time in its history.

For only the second time in its history, Home and Away will shoot scenes in Melbourne this week.

River Boys ‘Brax’ (Steve Peacocke) and ‘Heath’ (Dan Ewing) will appear in storylines taking them south on “a mission of fierce loyalty, protection and family.”

Inner city locations will include Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and the Yarra River. Does that make them Yarra River boys?

Series producer, Lucy Addario, said: “We are excited to bring Home and Away to Melbourne again. We have a great Melbourne story that needs to be told and we look forward to working with local cast and crew. Fans can expect to see what The River Boys get up to outside of Summer Bay and the lengths they will go to protect their family.”

The episodes will be seen later this year.

  1. Definitely in favour of keeping HAA! It’s disappointing that people would rather watch American re-runs, rather than locally produced programs. Perhaps it’s time for the show to get back to basics. The Braxtons/River Boys has run it’s course imo…time to move on.

  2. It’s the River Boys that are otherwise killing the show.To be eaten alive in the ratings by a Bunch of Science Geeks or a Home Renovating Show is a tough act to follow on 9 with their Big Bang Theory or the Block.God knows what 10 have on offer once this years Masterchef is done with up against the soap.

    1. H&A may not be our most sophisticated television, but it has about 20 years on the shows you are comparing it to. It certainly held its own against Big Bang in the 7pm slot last year and earlier this year. I have no problem with suggestions that characters are overwhelming a show, or it isn’t producing its best work, but I’m still unclear why it was necessary to advocate axing a local show in favour of US imports. Just change the channel?

  3. I am not suggesting Getting Rid of the lot of them only the River Boys. It’s that one factor alone that is Killing Home and Away and making when it is on the sometimes overdone Big Bang Theory the Number 1 7pm show. There are some decent people still left on the show like the school principal Gina and Her Family.Dr Walker and His Lot,Lotti and Her Family amongst others.

  4. Wow Love the majority of negative comments! I agree it hadn’t been as interesting or engaging in recent months! However it is Australian, employs lots of crew, actors etc. & is part of our culture! The idea of more US imports that could be repeated continuously is ludicrous!

  5. Totally agree with all of you that the show is fifteen years out of Date.Let it die and put on some US imports in it’s place as a 7pm year round offering or some factuals that are educational.

  6. H&A still rates well when it’s not up against The Block and MasterChef. It will not be cancelled for low ratings in Aust.
Overseas sales & Aust. Net. won’t let that happen.

  7. It really has become Braxton Bay, and therefore alienated many viewers. Heath in Melbourne, does this mean he will finally have to wear a shirt rather than a singlet?
