Kate Walsh to exit Private Practice

Kate Walsh has confirmed speculation she is leaving Private Practice after Season 6.

Kate Walsh has confirmed speculation she is leaving Private Practice after Season 6.

“This is my last season for Private Practice,” she said. “It’s been an incredible journey an amazing ride. I’m hugely, hugely grateful.”

The character of Addison Montgomery already had many years in on Grey’s Anatomy before her own spinoff.

“It’s been a long time being Addison. I feel incredibly grateful to Shonda Rhimes and all the fans that have been there from day one to now. I’m really excited about the last season.”

Private Practice is returning for at least 13 episodes of Season 6 but Tim Daly is not returning to the series due to budget cuts.

“We need to make sure the show is viable and that we can produce it. I feel as though Tim’s character had a wonderful journey,” said creator Shonda Rhimes.

  1. I still watch and enjoy the show. Personally I think it has heavier subject matter when compared to Greys. The height of the series when Charlotte was raped.
I do think though that the time is right to wrap PP I don’t care about its ratings I’m just glad it’s likely been given the opportunity to finish properly, I hope Shonda wraps it at the end of these 13 episodes.
I always sort of hoped Addison would return to Greys if it ever got canned but she seems done playing the character now which is fair enough

  2. the show isn’t rating very well and on a downwards trend and after these 13 eps it will have made syndication, so it’s not looking like it will be renewed after this, but even if it is, it is a good move for kate, she is great and can do better.
