Move over Dick Emery….

Seven is set to screen UK comedy Mrs. Brown’s Boys starring writer / performer Brendan O’Carroll dressed up as a foul-mouthed old woman.

Several members of his own family play his on-screen family.

The comedy recently won a BAFTA for best sitcom.

13 episodes have been made so far, with a third season already approved.

YouTube has plenty of scenes of Mrs Brown if you want to check her out. Be warned, this one will be big….

TV’s rudest, crudest mother hen is coming to roost at Seven with BAFTA-winning comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys set to premiere here this month.

The outrageous series about an interfering matriarch was awarded the 2012 BAFTA for Best Situation Comedy last week.

Mrs Brown’s Boys stars popular Irish comedian, Brendan O’Carroll, as Mrs Agnes Brown – a foul-mouthed mammy who meddles in the lives of her long-suffering six children with shocking and hilarious consequences.

The character is loosely based on O’Carroll’s mother Maureen, an Irish Labour politician who had 11 children, as well as women he encountered on Dublin’s Moore Street Market while growing up.

The cast includes O’Carroll’s wife, sister, son and daughter who also star with him in the sellout Mrs Brown stage shows.

Two seasons of Mrs Brown’s Boys have already been watched by millions in the UK and Ireland with a third due later this year.

  1. Everyone do yourself a favour and youtube “mrs brown gets a bikini wax”. I nearly wet myself.

Glad it is being aired in Australia. I guess it will a 9:30 show. Some very strong language in it. Hilarious though.

British and UK things are very “in” at the moment, will be interesting so see how this goes.

  2. I have seen this show and it’s laugh out loud funny. Many segments of the show are on utube. I would have thought 7two as well but would have preferred ABC2 (no ads).

  3. Looks like we now know our Sunday night line up at 7:30pm. Billy Connolly Route 66 (as there is a sneak preview this Sunday at 8:30pm) and this.

  4. I’m outraged that someone so obviously catholic is going to be on my TV (presuming it’s on channel 7 at the time and I don’t change the channel). Who can I complain to so that I can force my perspective on everybody else?
