TEN restructures Publicity

TEN moves Publicity into Corporate Communications, overseen by Neil Shoebridge.

TEN has made some managerial changes to the structure of its communication.

Neil Shoebridge, former AFR journalist who was appointed Director of Corporate and Public Communications earlier this year by CEO James Warburton, will add Publicity to his portfolio.

“Further to the restructuring changes we have made in recent months, Publicity led by Jo Papadopoulos will now report into Corporate Communications led by Neil Shoebridge,” a TEN memo said.

“Publicity will continue to work closely with Programming. The reporting change has been made to streamline communication about Network TEN, and introduce greater consistency and a clearer strategic focus in how we present our programs and talent to the market.”

  1. Perhaps the new structure will recognise that Neighbours still exists on Eleven and promote it on the home channel.

Oh, sorry, whoops, Neighbours, together with that animated show from the US, are Eleven’s centrepiece programs and therefore don’t need promoting.

Also, I guess it’s far more important to schedule RedaKai or anything for that matter in the 8:00am slot, rather than attempting to garner more viewers for Neighbours via repeat screenings.

So, I guess Neighbours will remain unpromoted, out-of-reach and unloved by TEN, until its eventual axing, because if this really is where TEN plan to leave Neighbours for the duration, then there simply is no hope.

  2. Does that mean that Publicity is now further divorced from Programming? It’s hard enough finding out what is happening with programs as it is, given that Ten (they are not alone in this) are pretty ordinary when it comes to communicating with their audience, so what will it be like now?

I’m guessing that instead of the left hand having trouble communicating with the right it’ll be more like the left hand ignoring the left foot.

Thank god for TV Tonight in doing half their job for them.
