Charlotte Dawson hospitalised after social media abuse

TV personality Charlotte Dawson has been hospitalised following abuse on Twitter.

TV personality Charlotte Dawson has been hospitalised following abuse on Twitter.

The Daily Telegraph reports an ambulance was called to an inner Sydney apartment this morning at 3:05am.

She is expected to make a full recovery according to a spokesperson.

“She has asked that her privacy be respected,” he said. “She is sitting up in bed and she’s in good hands.”

The Australia’s Next Top Model judge and Celebrity Apprentice participant appeared in interviews this week criticising bullying and vitriol on social media platforms. This week she exposed one who had abused her on Twitter, leading to the user being suspended at their Monash University workplace.

But Dawson, who has frequently retweeted abusive messages in order to expose them, was understood to be subjected to hundreds of abuse last night, possibly as part of a group ‘attack.’

She was due to appear in tonight’s recording of Can of Worms for TEN but Mia Freedman will now appear and the show will be discussing social media trolling.

A spokeswoman for Dawson’s management said today: “She is in hospital and she is OK.”
