Rumours of MasterChef relocating to Melbourne are back on the menu once again. They’ve been entree morsels before.

The Herald Sun suggests Centennial Hall at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds could become a new home to the series and a special “MasterChef precinct” would be created, including a cooking school and a provedore.

Such a move could create 260 TV jobs and 100 related jobs in Victoria.

It would certainly make life easier for locals Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan, and executive producer Margaret Bashfield -assuming all are back.

Despite the show’s success this year it cannot take anything for granted and must keep reinventing itself.

TEN would also be wise to pull back on the number of episodes, at risk of us all becoming too stuffed from one feed.

  1. It’s interesting that all the judges are from Melbourne, which must make it pretty expensive in terms of accommodation and travel. They’d be crazy to change the judges at this stage, unless one resigns. Gary is especially valuable. And as long as they find a place where they can park their mini motorbike and hose down the forecourt before any grand entrance!

  2. I like the stripping of Sunday – Thursday coz it establishes a routine and something to look forward to. The Masterclass is non-essential viewing and it’s followed by a day off on Saturday so this household hasn’t gotten sick of it. Especially with this last season being back on top form.

  3. Will be interesting to see how they tweak it next yr. I don’t know whether the days should be cut because the masterclass is prob one of the best eps and its on a fri but the need to reinvent it because its as much as a viewer experience as a contestants because all can learn fron the masterclass as you see all steps in making the food by the pros, plus its the only show to do well for ten on a friday all yr.
    They need more big challanges like the wed ones and the immunity pins should go and have a points based system from the begining, maybe they could can the immunity challange cause it is pretty boring.
