Returning: Grey’s Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is back on Seven next week, but moves to a new day.

Grey’s Anatomy is back on Seven next week, but moves to a new day, Tuesdays at 9:45pm.

Seven is fast-tracking the show, no doubt because it is no longer the blockbuster it once was.

Smash will follow as a single episode at 10:45pm.

“Going Going Gone”
The doctors of Seattle Grace are faced with the aftermath of last season’s plane crash, as the fates of Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Mark and Arizona all hang in the balance.

Before the crash, their paths seemed set…
· Having passed their boards Meredith, Cristina, Alex and Jackson all planned on taking positions at different hospitals, leaving Seattle Grace behind.
· April’s career as a doctor seemed to be over when she failed her exam and was fired.
· Meredith and Derek were focused on being new parents to baby Zola and were debating whether to move into their dream house or start over in Boston.
· Cristina and Owen’s marriage was still on the rocks
· Callie and Arizona were happily settling into motherhood.
· Bailey had decided to give love another chance with her new fiancé, Ben
· Richard Webber found comfort in the arms of Jackson’s mother, Catherine Avery

The plane crash changed everything. Now, with their futures unknown, the doctors of Seattle Grace must learn to adapt to changes, cope with losses and move forward with their relationships and careers.

9:45pm Tuesday October 2nd.

  1. I don’t see why it could not work on Tuesday. The lack of decent non crime show alternatives elsewhere might actually work in their favour this time around.

  2. Grey’s Anatomy is still hugely popular. It just does not rate as well here because so many viewers refuse to wait for Feb and download it. I have been on Channel 7’s back for years to fast-track it so I could not be happier for the many fans that do still exist. Scandal has also been previewed however that was shown in the US in Apr/May so not really fast tracking this. Most fans of Grey’s would have downloaded these seven eps months ago as it is created by the same peeps who make Grey’s. Once Upon a Time and The Amazing Race were reported to be coming soon as well; and OUAT is very popular and has done well in the US. Overall I think sitting on the ninth season of a show that is losing ground is not beneficial to the network and fast-tracking popular shows is also beneficial. Winner and Losers is doing very well so good lead in for Grey’s I think. I don’t know that XFactor would have been a better lead in.

  3. You can blame the likes of an Extended Home and Away and a rejigged Newly Timed Thursday Better Homes and Gardens for the Thursday Night Late Grey’s Anatomy.Once Again It’s the Friday Footy Viewers who gained at the expense of those who don’t care for the big game.

  4. The promo to this ad is incorrect, they state see it the same week as the US, in premieres in the US on Thursday (our friday in AU) and it premieres in AU on tuesday october 2nd so not the same week is it. Im amazed they have decided to fast track this show as usually its like over 8 months or so till we see it again on aussie tv.

  5. greys has fallen a long way but it is now the sole survivor of all the big 2005 shows which were Lost, Desperate Housewives, Greys, House and Medium.

@Jason, i think it makes sense, burn of the lower rating content in warmer months, 7 can live without Greys so it doesn’t matter if fasttracking destroys the show. Then the big Feb slots can be filled with big ticket shows like downton and revenge where they can pull high numbers again.

@Josh777, Greys was starting as late as 10:15 on a Thursday earlier this year in western states. 9:45 Tuesday is a huge promotion. i don’t think the fans can complain.

  6. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.As Long as they don’t try this time around to bundle a whole heap of full on medical dramas so early on in the working week like before.

  7. Where to start with that – great lead in by The X Factor which will hopefully boost the viewers for Grey’s (most probably why Seven put it there) but it’s bad enough that it isn’t in it’s usual 8:30pm timeslot but then to not even be in a 9:30pm timeslot is just rediculous.Reality producers really need to get the memo that their shows need to be made so that it fits into timeslots [I personally don’t mind if they even make it American timeslots of every hour (8pm, 9pm) as opposed to our half hour starts (8:30pm, 9:30pm)].
Nevertheless, I can’t wait to see the new season =).
