There are conflicting reports on the future of NBC's Munsters remake Mockingbird Lane.

There are conflicting reports on the future of NBC’s Munsters remake Mockingbird Lane.

The high-concept Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me) series was reported to be unlikely to move forward by US trade website Deadline.

The series, starring Portia de Rossi as Lily, Jerry O’Connell as Herman and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster was filmed on the Universal lot, and Fuller planned to incorporate other famed monsters from the studio’s horror library.

Deadline reported, “There is no final decision, but I hear that the network brass are leaning toward passing on the project.”

But since then Bryan Fuller has taken to Twitter claiming, “NBC just informed me that the Deadline article regarding #MockingbirdLane was Dead Wrong. Stay tuned for updates!”

  1. I have to agree with the previous comments about there being too many remakes these days, and with only a few of them successful it hardly surprises me that this one is likely to be shelved.
But… Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster eh? That would have been worth seeing!

  2. I’m a great fan of the Universal monster franchise – that is, the original franchise – i.e.: Karloff’s Frankenstein, Lugosi’s Dracula, Chaney’s Wolfman, Reins’ Invisible Man, etc. and the subsequent sequels.

Please, let sleeping Munsters rest in peace…
