Airdate: Moone Boy

Here comes Chris O'Dowd's amusing, if unconventional, new comedy about life growing up in Ireland.

An amusing, if unconventional, new comedy begins on ABC1 this Friday night, starring The IT Crowd‘s Chris O’Dowd.

The series is semi-autobiographical and focuses on O’Dowd’s life growing up in Ireland. Set in late 1980s Ireland, O’Dowd stars as the imaginary friend of 11-year-old Martin, the youngest child of the large and loud Moone family.

If you enjoyed Beautiful People this will be one for you.

In this episode, Martin’s mother Debra hits the campaign trail to support Mary Robinson’s bid for the Irish presidency, but with little funding decides to turn to the owner of local fish factory, Brendan ‘Touchy’ Feely, for support.

With his mother barely at home, a neglected Martin soon tires of his sister’s cooking and befriends new boy Trevor, whose chef-parents feed the boys like kings – until Martin overstays his welcome.

8pm Friday ABC1.

  1. The IT crowd was my favourite TV show of the 2000s. I think there were so many fans out there disappointed another series was’t made. They only did 6 eps per series too, so it felt like it had a lot more life left in it. I’ll definitely watch his new show.
