In an unexpected twist, Bill McDonald will leave Network TEN with Georgie Lewis to present Brisbane bulletins.

Brisbane news anchor Bill McDonald will leave Network TEN, as part of the network’s News redundancies.
In an unexpected twist co-host Georgie Lewis will helm TEN News at Five solo.
This reverses previous statements that McDonald would remain as a solo presenter and that the network was “in discussions” with Lewis.
The Courier Mail reports TEN released a statement earlier today.
“Bill is a highly regarded news presenter and he leaves TEN with our best wishes,” a TEN spokesperson said.
On Twitter he said, “Thanks for the kind messages from all my friends in twitter.”
McDonald has been with TEN since 2003, presenting TEN News in Brisbane as well as TEN Early News, TEN Morning News and TEN’s weekend News from Sydney. He has a strong background in sports presenting, having previously been with Seven for a decade, and as a sports anchor, NBL commentator and AFL boundary rider for TEN.
McDonald was absent from the news desk this week but told The Courier-Mail that he was ill.
TEN’s cuts in its News will see solo presenters for all its bulletins around the country.

Seriously I lost count of the ‘news’ shows ending and people quiting or forced out yesterday, it much have set some kind of record?
What is Ch. 10 doing, Bill would have to be one of the best and nicest tv news presenters! 10 has lost the plot big time, just because they have made bad calls on there programs, good people have to suffer,i will not be watching the news anymore, it just goes to show you no ones job is safe in this over paid society, no matter what, good luck Bill, i only hope an other network scoops you up, as it will be 10 loss !!!!
I have watched this guy present Ten’s 5pm news on and off for the past few years. It sucks that they’re canning him, I’d prefer they canned Georgie, if they had to axe anyone at all
Ten have truly lost the plot. Bill s by far the best Queensland presenter.

Bill is a great presenter, with loads of experience, and a great down to earth bloke.
Given the almost certainty the Ms Lewis was to go, perhaps he chose to go on his own terms. I hope that was the case.
If he was blindsided, TEN has made yet another huge blunder.
