Ratings: A horserace easily beats a Reality TV finale and helps Seven to win the week.

Reality TV housemates were no match for a horserace as the Melbourne Cup stormed home to an easy win.
The Melbourne Cup lifted from its Preliminary figure of 2.66m to 2.74m for the Race itself. Although it didn’t factor into their primetime share Seven still won Tuesday night and the week itself.
Big Brother drove Nine’s schedule in the early week but the Finale numbers under-performed.

Nine won 16-39 demos but Seven won 18-49 and 25-54.
Seven took out all 5 cities and won Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Nine won Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. ABC bettered TEN on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Aside from Cup Day events, Seven’s best performers were The X Factor (1.54m / 1.3m), Sunday Night (1.34m), Winners and Losers (1.29m), Beauty and the Geek Australia (1.28m), Seven News (Sun: 1.2m, weeknights: 1.14m), and Surveillance Oz (1.02m).
Big Brother hit 1.54m for The Winner Announced and 1.35m Celebration / 1.26m Grand Final. Other brands for Nine were 60 Minutes (1.19m), Nine News (weeknights: 1.08m, Sun: 1.00m), House Husbands and new Big Bang Theory (both 1.03m), and ACA (943,000).
ABC News (weeknights: 998,000, Sat: 888,000) topped ABC1 followed by New Tricks (987,000), Australian Story (923,000), David Attenborough: Kingdom of Plants (845,000, Making of: 787,000) and Doc Martin (830,000).
New Modern Family (1.05m / 818,000) was TEN’s strongest then NCIS (849,000), Can of Worms (652,000), Homeland (650,000) and TEN News (619,000).
On SBS ONE it was 56 Up (411,000), Finding Life Beyond Earth (292,000), Coast (290,000) and Jimmy and the Giant Supermarket (271,000).
Including this week there are three more weeks in the 2012 ratings year.

@TeeVeeGeekyBre: GO have been replaying BB on the weekend all season.
The announcement of Big Brother’s winner would have rated much higher if it were on a Sunday, as all big awards shows and events are always on Sunday nights.
Why did GO! replay the whole last week of Big Brother this afternoon?
I don’t agree Bb drove 9’s early in the week as the Tuesday ep rated lower than H&A and below a million.
