Seven News partners with Sydney Airport

Seven has cleverly partnered with Sydney Airport to screen News and Current Affairs content at departure gates.

First it was the petrol pump and now Seven has cleverly partnered with Sydney Airport to screen Seven News and Current Affairs content at departure gates.

90-second segments will be screened at departure lounges at the international terminal three times each day. Not sure if it also includes departure lounge TVs only screening Seven content too.

General Manager of News & Public Affairs, David Porter said, “Seven News is Australia’s number one news service and we are proud to be partners with Australia’s leading international gateway.”

Yahoo!7’s Head of News, Sport and Information, Sue Carter said, “This content deal provides news updates and lifestyle content to millions of travellers at Sydney’s international departure lounges each year.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Sydney Airport to deliver a consistent, high quality and informative service to international travellers. The content will leave a lasting impression with travellers before their journey,” she said.

  1. Could be a conflict of interest at the airport. Nine’s early morning news bulletin is shown in Qantas jets and carries the Qantas logo in the on-screen titles.

  2. One of the few good things about Sydney Airport is that whenever I have been there, the departure lounges at the domestic airport are set to different channels. When you’re waiting for a flight, you can move between departure gates depending on what you want to watch.

  3. DK: Hopefully flight info!

Ha, I was thinking about the departure lounge TVs, not the arrivals and departures monitors which is what the story is about. I need to improve my comprehension skills.

Still doesn’t really make much sense that they will only show the update three times a day, since only a very small percentage of travellers will get to see it.

Perhaps they mean that it will be updated three times a day?

  4. I personally think this is unfair to only limit travellers to Seven News, other people may prefer different channels and may have different tastes etc, other travellers may also want more in depth news like the ABC & SBS. It would of made more sense to screen a few news channels & not only Ch 7 content, I prefer to watch Ch 9 news I find them first to always cover major headlines.

  5. Yeah, I’m as confused as Kenny. The way I read it is that there will be a total 4½ minutes of news and “lifestyle content” each day, is that right?

Hard to believe but that’s actually less news than is in their 6pm bulletin, altho’ it’ll prob be as current as their news “updates”.

What will the TVs be showing for the other 1,435½ minutes of each day?

  6. “90-second segments will be screened at departure lounges at the international terminal three times each day.”
Seems pretty lame. Why not just show ABC24?
“The content will leave a lasting impression with travellers before their journey,” Yeah, afraid it will.
