Axed: Wedding Band

And it's also bad news for Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23.

2013-01-01_1727US dramedy Wedding Band has been axed in the US after just one season.

The series, starring Brian Austin Green and Harold Perrineau, has been cancelled by TBS.

In the US the show averaged 850,000 total viewers in the all-important 18-49 demo.

Coincidentally TEN aired its season finale in Australia last night, the aptly titled The End of the World As We Know It.

Meanwhile ABC (US) has pulled Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23, which effectively signals the show’s cancellation.

On Twitter James Van Der Beek said, “Sad to say ABC has pulled #Apt23 and will not be airing the 8 remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we’ve basically been cancelled.

“And please, no bashing ABC. While I’m sure no one there would say they think they nailed it when it came to programming #Apt23 this year…You’ve got to give ABC props for ever picking us up in the first place. They took a shot at something original & edgy. I respect them for it.”

It aired in Australia on Foxtel.

  1. That’s too bad about The Wedding Band. I really liked that show. And it was good to see Peter Cambor back on the small screen (he used to be on NCIS: LA).

  2. Really disappointed that Apt 23 has been cancelled; it was an oddball, zany, dark comedy with witty one-liners and plot twists a-plenty. So of course since it was different mainstream American wouldn’t watch!

  3. I really enjoyed Don’t Trust the Bitch.

It was a funny, silly show that at times went a bit out there. I hope another network picks it up or something.,

Never watched wedding band, but I understand it’s funnier than it had any right to be.

  4. Yes, I’ve been watching Wedding Band over summer. It was ok summer fare, but I’m not surprised or dissapointed it only lasted one season. I wouldn’t have watched during ratings if there were other shows up against it.

  5. This is terrible news! Wedding Band is my favourite sitcom of 2012! TBS make some amazing sitcoms and hopefully more Australian networks (either FTA or STV) pick up some of their content as it is hillarious. I can see Are We There Yet? being a hit on Comedy if its paired with Key & Peele, and Men At Work would be great on TEN, One, 7MATE, Comedy or FX. B in Apartment 23 was another good sitcom, but Arena seemed to realise it was going to be dropped as they stopped fast-tracking it after S02E04 – with 7 episodes airing in the U.S. since than. Doubt we will see the rest of the season until all episodes are aired in the U.S. to save stopping and starting.

  6. A shame about both shows.
I really enjoyed Wedding Band but you could tell from the tone of the final episode that they knew the writing was on the wall.

  7. Wedding Band was a fun show, one of the few things I watched on FTA over the last few months, shame there will be no more.

Don’t Trust The B… was also good fun, hope Arena shows the un-aired eps. Its not uncommon for some canceled shows to air outside the US first.

  8. The songs in Wedding Band were very well done. Good arrangements and well performed. The writing in between was ordinary at times.

Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 was an OK sitcom but largely based around one character and a gimmick. Halfway through the second series the episodes were all the same.

  9. Wedding band was total crap so no big deal. But apt 23 is a great show. Sucks if it is cancelled. Happy endings which aired before apt 23 will prob be cancelled too. Love them both but they both rate really bad

  10. I didn’t mind the first half of Wedding Band, but found the second half uninteresting and I lost concentration. I had a feeling it wouldn’t last another season. In the US, it airs at 10pm on Saturday nights, so the ratings kinda speak for them self.
