BAFTAs, Brit Awards on UKTV.

UKTV will air both the BAFTA Awards (film) and The BRIT Awards in February.

The BAFTAs will air on 7:30am Monday February 11, simulcast with BBC ONE, with the BRITs at 12 midday on February 21st. Both will enjoy primetime replays.

The EE British Academy Film Awards, otherwise known as “the BAFTAs” and considered one of the most important nights in the film industry calendar, will premiere on UKTV in Australia on the morning of Monday February 11th (simulcast with the BBC One broadcast) with an encore of highlights to air that evening at 8.45pm. Both broadcasts will include the Red Carpet pre-show, with all eyes on Aussie Hugh Jackman to see if he will take home the Lead Actor award for Les Misérables.

Renowned for honouring an impressive line-up of stars, the Awards are regarded as an important indicator of the frontrunners for the Academy Awards®. Some of the nominations for this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards include: Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, leading actor and leading actress for Les Misérables. Helen Mirren leading actress for Hitchock. Judi Dench and Javier Bardem for supporting actress and supporting actor for Skyfall, and Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper leading actress and actor for Silver Linings Playbook. Les Misérables, Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty are all nominated for best film.

Also on UKTV in February are The BRIT Awards. Express from the UK, the awards will air from midday on the 21st February with an encore at 7.30pm. The BRITs are a glittering, champagne-fuelled, star-studded evening and this year the ceremony will feature live performances from Robbie Williams, One Direction, Muse, Emeli Sande and Mumford and Sons. The awards will be hosted by James Corden and will see Australian artist Goyte up against the likes of Jack White, Michael Buble, Bruce Springsteen and Frank Ocean for Best International Male Solo Artist.

  1. I would love to see previous years of the Brit Awards, better talent was on, need to see 2010 & 2011 especially. I thought BAFTA also included TV hence the T in BAFTA.

  2. David, thank you, we appreciate it, at least we can watch from Ch.9 but I’ll won’t be surprised if they cut parts of the shows.

    We hope Ch.9 won’t cut some of the shows as they did few years ago when they cut some of the footstage from the 70 academy awards unlike foxtel they show the oscars without cutting some of the footstage.
    That’s why we are not happy that foxtel are not showing it this year.

  3. Where are the Oscar???? None of the channels are showing it? We are very annoyed especially this year the movies are great and we love to watch Hugh Jackman. Argh!!!!!
