Airdate: Last Resort

This big budget US action drama features three Australian actors.

2013-02-04_1514Seven has confirmed the premiere date for Last Resort, the big budget action drama about a renegade US  submarine crew.

The ABC series includes three Australian actors (pictured left to right) Daniel Lissing, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman but unfortunately did not proceed beyond its 13 episodes.

From Emmy-nominated Executive Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and the makers of Casino Royale comes Last Resort – a high stakes action-thriller weaving romance and political intrigue against a breathtaking, exotic location.

Hollywood heavyweights Scott Speedman (Underworld, Felicity) and Emmy-winner Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street) lead a strong ensemble cast featuring Australia’s own Daniel Lissing (Crownies), Daisy Betts (Sea Patrol) and Dichen Lachman (Neighbours, Dollhouse).

Synopsis: When the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine questions a suspicious order, they’re branded fugitives. As they’re fired upon by the U.S. and plunged into a mystery fraught with political intrigue, they seek refuge on a NATO outpost and declare themselves the world’s newest nuclear-armed nation. Here they will find refuge, romance and a chance at a new life, even as they try to clear their names and get home.

This epic, emotional journey about love, loyalty and character premieres Wednesday, February 20 at 8.30pm on Seven.

Downton Abbey, Revenge, Packed To The Rafters, Winners & Losers, Home & Away, MKR, The X Factor, Castle, Criminal Minds, Bones, The Force, Border Security, Airport Shows, Crash Investigations,
How I Met Your Mother, Grimm, Up All Night, Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, The Practice and The Last Resort.

For late nights they have Happy Endings, Suits, Fairly Legal, 30 Rock, Royal Pains, Against The Wall, The Mindy Project, Up All Night.

Can’t you just see Channels 9&10 laughing at Channel 7 for their lack of content.

  2. It does have a final episode. So it doesn’t end of a cliff hanger or anything. It’s a bit rushed but it’s fine.

It’s a good show. If you enjoy it, it’s worth watching to the end.

Not one to give up on not expecting it to end.

  3. As it has been axed but the producers knew and were able to tweak the finale is it has some conclusion. As a result I am watching it like a long mini series. Have watched episodes 1 to 3. So far so good.

  4. The fact that Seven are again going down the path of launching a dead US drama just shows how desperate they are for content. They would have been better off relaunching Body of Proof, Scandal, Criminal Minds etc. A Place to Call Home could have also found the My Kitchen Rules lead in handy.

  5. This is a great show – and it finished with an actual ending, not on a cliffhanger. There were a few dodgy episodes towards the middle (hallucinations in episode 6) but episodes 10-13 were fantastic.

If you enjoy shows like 24, Prison Break, etc, this is a good show to add to your watch list.

  6. Once it got down to one slot and one show left , they may as well “announce it”.

Channel Seven’s games only seemed to catch out the ABC who had the final of Upstairs Downstairs up against Downton Abbey, till they fixed it.

  7. Unfortunately I fear this may outrate Mr & Mrs Murder, due to the Seven effect (all shows rate regardless of quality)

Which is a shame because Mr & Mrs Murder looks quite good. Hopefully it can find an audience…
