Nickelodeon fans have spoken! Voting their favourites in television, sports and film, kids everywhere have made their voices heard as the network announces the nominees for Nickelodeon’s 26th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, airing in Australia on Sunday March 24, only on Foxtel. Vying for the sought-after blimp award are mega-stars from stage, screen and sports, including Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth, Adele, Justin Bieber, Big Time Rush, Bon Jovi, Miranda Cosgrove, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Vanessa Hudgens, Victoria Justice, Jennifer Lawrence, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Katy Perry, Michael Phelps, Julia Roberts, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Will Smith, Kristen Stewart, Ben Stiller, Taylor Swift, Tim Tebow, and Venus and Serena Williams. Hollywood’s biggest kid, Josh Duhamel, will be hosting the slime-bash, telecast live in the US from USC’s Galen Center from 8-9:30 pm ET/PT.

Beginning this Saturday, kids will be able to cast their votes in 22 categories plus 5 extra Aussie categories across all of Nickelodeon’s digital outlets, including KCA2013.com and mobile site, as well as Nickelodeon Australia’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. Users will be able to vote from a tab on the page and the entire voting experience can be embedded directly into Facebook wall posts.

It’s a fight to the cinematic finish as Kids’ Choice Awards former host and winner Will Smith, Johnny Depp and newcomer Andrew Garfield nabbed nominations for Favourite Movie Actor: Smith for Men in Black 3, Depp for Dark Shadows and Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man. Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson kicked butt with dual nominations for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Female Butt-kicker, while The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hunger Games and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days are all up for Favourite Movie.

Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth is up for Favourite Butt-Kicker for The Avengers, against fellow cast-mate Robert Downey, Jr., Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man, and Dwayne Johnson for Journey 2: Mysterious Island.

In television, Miranda Cosgrove, Selena Gomez and Victoria Justice round out the Favourite TV Actress nominees, with iCarly, Wizards of Waverly Place and 2012 KCA winner Victorious also competing for Favourite TV Show. First time nominees Carlos Pena (Big Time Rush), Lucas Cruikshank (Marvin Marvin), Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly) and Ross Lynch (Austin &Ally) were nommed for Favourite TV Actor.

Taylor Swift scored three nominations: one for Favourite Voice from an Animated Movie (The Lorax), Favourite Song (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”) and Favourite Female Singer. Last year’s Favourite Music Group, Big Time Rush made the list again, up against Maroon 5, Bon Jovi and One Direction, whose single “What Makes You Beautiful” is also nominated for Favourite Song.

With five local categories included this year, Nickelodeon Australia’s own Luke and Wyatt will once again be headed to the epic event in LA to help deliver Aussie kids the excitement of the Orange Carpet and present the award of Aussie’s Fave Nick Star on stage, to be seen as part of the Australian broadcast. Nominees in the running include Jennette McCurdy, Ariana Grande, Lucas Cruikshank, and Victoria Justice, who recently met thousands of her Aussie fans when she conducted a promo tour here last November.

Australian nominees in the category of Aussie’s Fave Homegrown Act will see Cody Simpson, Justice Crew, Reece Mastin and Guy Sebastian battle it out for a 2013 blimp trophy.

  1. Hi, I run a social media group to update teens and tweens about the Australian and U.S KCAs, I could be wrong yet I think that the Aussie categories could be incorrect because on the Nick.com website it normally tells which are Aussie and includes Aussie Nominees.

    Slime On!

  2. I hope the Nick researchers also asked the kids if they wanted to also see a local ceremony later this year, either instead of Slimefest 2, or accommodating a Slimefest 2 tour alongside a 2013 AU/NZ-only KCA ceremony (especially as some of the nominees in the US categories (e.g. the sports categories) aren’t very well known to Australians, let alone Australian kids)

Slimefest and the KCA’s can co-exist. It’s gotta take the will of Nickelodeon AU/NZ to make it happen.
