ABC1 will bring state election coverage to WA with ABC News 24 providing national coverage.

2013-03-04_2144Western Australia faces the polls this weekend and ABC1 will provide WA coverage with ABC News 24 bringing national coverage.

Insiders will also cover the results on Sunday morning.

ABC TV Studios in East Perth will be transformed into ABC Western Australia Election Centre on March 9.

On election night ABC TV will screen live coverage in Western Australia on ABC1, simulcast nationally on ABC News 24. On-air from 6.30pm WA time (9.30pm, AEDT), veteran election broadcaster Kerry O’Brien will host the TV special with ABC election analyst, Antony Green.

Joining Kerry O’Brien on the TV panel with their analysis will be Stephen Smith (ALP Minister for Defence) and Julie Bishop (Liberal Deputy Opposition Leader).

Western Australian political reporter Alisha O’Flaherty will interview candidates and observers during live crosses.

Coverage of the vote and the reaction will continue on ABC News 24 the following day, including Insiders at 9.00am with Barrie Cassidy and a comprehensive wrap of the election results during the 7.00pm News on ABC1 in Western Australia.

6:30pm WST Saturday, 9 March 2013  on ABC1. 9:30pm AEDT on ABC News 24.

  1. I know for many this will be like watching grass grow, but I do enjoy ABC’s election coverage. I’m looking forward to a roast dinner, a bottle of red and the election… damm, I think I need to get a life!
