Pretty Little Liars spin-off: Ravenswood

Not only a spin-off for Pretty Little Liars but a clever social media tactic in gaining an instant audience...

2013-03-28_1553Pretty Little Liars is getting a spin-off from ABC Family, to be known as Ravenswood.

Ravenswood will take place in a town near Liars’ hometown of Rosewood in Pennsylvania, which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations.

The series will be written by Liars co-showrunners King and Goldstick and Dougherty and produced by Warner Horizon Television.

Season 3 was Pretty Little Liars’ most-watched season ever in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and women 18-49 in the US, and was ABC Family’s most-watched original series instalment ever in its target 18-34 demo.

ABC Family mad the announcement via social media platforms given Pretty Little Liars is the #1 most social show on US television.

The never-before-done announcement was pushed out providing a unique clue for each different digital platform – Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, Instagram, Pinterest, GetGlue, YouTube and abcfamily.com – generating over 369 million total impressions worldwide, including over 33 million on Facebook, over 333 million on Twitter and close to three million on GetGlue. As a result Ravenswood quickly amassed over 24,000 Facebook fans and over 18,000 Twitter followers, with #Ravenswood trending on Twitter for nearly two hours.

The spin-off will premiere in the US in October following the third annual Liars Halloween special, which will introduce Ravenswood and its inhabitants.

  1. Well, Damages aired season 1 on 9 then the others after that aired on Foxtel, but a couple of years ago 9 & GEM aired all the other seasons. So don’t see why they can’t do the same with Pretty Little Liars. Now I’m just waiting for them to air the final season.

  2. I’ve only just given up waiting on FTA and have just rewatched the first half of season 1 that was actually broadcast and have now finished season 1 and am currently in the middle of season 2.

  3. Really annoyed about this show. The first series was on Go a few years ago and I watched it and really liked it and then it just disappeared. Don’t know if Go will ever show the rest of the series, it’s really popular in the US. Would like to watch the spin off too if we ever get it.
