ABC gives greenlight to more from The Moodys

ABC orders more from The Moody family in a follow-up to its comedy hit.

First lookpic THIS CHRISTMAS The Moody FamilyABC TV has given the green light to The Moodys, a follow-up to the acclaimed series, A Moody Christmas.

As tipped by TV Tonight last month the Moody family returns to the screen, but this time sporting a new title, to be based around significant moments in the family’s year.

ABC TV Head of Fiction Carole Sklan said: “After spending Christmas with the Moodys we are now delighted to bring audiences a year in the much loved family’s life – eight important occasions brimming with the keenly observed humour, recognisable incidents and heightened flourishes we’ve come to expect from Trent (O’Donnell), Phil (Lloyd) and the Jungleboys team.”

Executive Producer Jason Burrows said, “The feedback we’ve had on Moody has been amazing, and everyone is really excited about the second series. Moving outside of the Christmas theme will give Trent and Phil a lot more scope to explore the dysfunctionality of the family, but again it will have a lot of heart.”

A Moody Christmas featured Sean Moody, Ian Meadows, Jane Harber, Danny Adcock, Tina Bursill, Phil Lloyd, Guy Edmonds, Rachel Gordon, Robina Beard, Darren Gilshenan and Patrick Brammall, who won the AACTA Award for Best Comedy Performance.

The new series will also feature new characters.

Produced by Jungleboys in association with ABC TV, the 8 X 30min series will  begin production later this year.

  1. Compared to other ABC “comedies” like Laid, Lowdown, Outland, Please Like Me, The Strange Calls, and The Librarians, A Moody Christmas looks like a work of art. I think I once counted four jokes in one episode, which is more jokes than in all the other aforementioned comedies combined.

I hope the new series is funnier than The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide To Knife Fighting. What is it with the ABC and its fixation with bogan humour?
