Last Saturday for the first time ever an Australian network screened three different sports at the same time.
While Seven screened AFL, 7TWO had the Golden Slipper horse racing and 7mate screened V8 Supercars.
While the averages vary with the length of the broadcasts, Seven nevertheless reached 2.1million people. Reach equates to the amount of viewers who watched 5 minutes or more.
The peak for the AFL was 751,000 viewers and it averaged 329,000 in 3 cities.

Love it when figures are thrown around e.g. 2million what’s the population of Australia say 24million? not too many are watching TV!!!
afl deal
Three Matches per week Live on free to air on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. One match on delay on Saturday afternoon;
Here in Tas (and I know Vic too) we ended up with Golden Slipper 7two, V8’s 7mate, and the AFL on 7.
The AFL was on 90 minute delay. Thats not good enough personally!
Credit where its due, three sports on three channels is a pretty good effort.
Me think they bit more than they could chew when horse racing ended up during the V8s for a period and crosses to AFL and lots of ads as they were trying to sort it all out. But they got it all sorted eventually after twitter exploded
David I know you’re reporting out of Melbourne but what Seven put on it’s different channels varied depending on location. Here in QLD we got the V8s on the main channel. How does channel swapping like this affect the ratings?
FYI at some point they lost the satellite signal to the V8s, maybe they were trying to juggle too many live events or they were getting mixed up as to which state was getting which sport on which channel?
