Jake and Elle enter MKR Grand Final

It's an all-Queensland Grand Final for MKR as Jake & Elle face off against Dan & Steph.

2013 MKR Grand FinalistsIt’s an all-Queensland Grand Final for My Kitchen Rules as brother and sister team Jake and Elle took the second and final place in Sunday’s upcoming cook-off.

They defeated Comeback Kitchen’s Mick and Matt, scoring the highest sudden death cook-off score of the series with 51/60 over the Tassie duo’s 44/60.

Judge Liz Egan said of their smoked kingfish entree, it looked “jaw-droppingly professional.”

“There are so many wonderful elements there. It’s so well thought out. Clever little dish,” she said.

The brother and sister become the youngest grand finalists in the show’s history and will face off against fellow Queenslanders Dan and Steph.

Pete Evans said of their rabbit with crumbed kidneys, polenta and herb salad: “I wouldn’t add or subtract anything.”

The My Kitchen Rules Grand Final airs Sunday at 6:30pm on Seven.

  1. Obviously the Networks and ACMA execs do not watch much FTA television, because if they did they would be equally disgusted as with most viewers who can not afford pay/cable.TV.

For example most networks( hope its not a fluke that Ten seems to be getting better) completely ignore the meaning and the value of accurate EPG listings( In Advance), and just citing one example, where the MKR semi-final on wednesday night, overan by ???, yet even as late as wednesday evening 7 were running promo’s that had Criminal Minds starting at 8-45pm, and as per their EPG, so even after I had added an extra 10 minutes, I still missed the very ending of MKR.

After draging this long ago ended series out to its viewer losing extreme, where we have wittnesed months of nano second timed endings by the chefs( but always ending on time), surely 7 after sitting on this Pre- Recorded series for months, someone at 7 could show at least a semblance of respect towards us ‘ Their ‘ viewers, and tell us the truth some”time” please.

  2. ” They filmed 2 endings so the contestants don’t know who won”

So the judges must have had 2 sets of scores for each team otherwise this wouldn’t be possible. I wonder who decides which are the real ones, the judges or the production staff.

  3. Why can’t they just air the final results live? Show the pre-filmed cooking bit and then cut for the live result.

Works well for Survivor, and removes any chance of spoilers.

The Celebrity Apprentice filmed 2 endings last year, yet it was still spoiled that Dicko was the winner before it aired.

  4. I reckon when they film the two endings they would definitely film the actual winner first so the reactions and emotions from the contestants and family are authentic.

  5. Bettestreep2008, that’s just the way it works, the better teams fought their way into the final.I’m in Qld but I still watched it last year when there were two SA finalists and I had my favourites, Nick and Rocco.
I’m hoping Dan and Steph win, they need the money more to start their family but I hate the idea of two endings, Maybe they keep tabs on who is the most popular with viewers all through the season and choose that couple for the win?

  6. “the finale for season 4 was filmed in mid-January this year.”

I thought last year they didn’t tape the finale until the last minute to avoid spoilers? Could they really have recorded this year’s finale three months ago?

    1. Yes. Pete Evans and Manu told me it was all filmed before ep 1 aired. They filmed 2 endings so the contestants don’t know who won. Just as they did in 2012. It’s very tenuous territory.

  7. @bettestreep2008: the finale for season 4 was filmed in mid-January this year. This was the first time filming was extended into the following year due to the extra episodes (gatecrashers and comeback kitchen). The previous 3 seasons all finished filming before Christmas.

  8. I dont view it as state v state. I just go for the contestants I like. In this case Ive liked Dan and Steph from the start.

At the start Jake was made out to be the evil one but he was anything but.

Out of the top 4 I wouldn’t have cared who won. Im going to watch sunday night not caring who wins because I like both teams but I would be happy for Dan and Steph. They are just an awesome couple.

  9. Hilarious!

For about 5 years (well it feels that long) Seven has been promoting MKR as ‘State vs state’ and now we have a finale between two Queensland couples.

So who will Victorians root for? What about the Tassies?

This will rate huge in Queensland but I think a lot of other viewers who seriously believed this was a ‘state vs state’ or even a ‘cooking’ show will be disappointed with this.

And will viewers hang around till 11.30 to watch A Place to call home?

C’mon – you know it’s going to run over time – despite it being filmed before Christmas last year!
