A number of new shows have been renewed in the US by CBS, NBC and The CW.

2013-04-28_0111A number of new shows have been renewed in the US ahead of the May Upfronts.

CBS has renewed Two and a Half Men, NBC has renewed Parenthood and Law and Order: SVU while The CW has renewed Beauty and the Beast.

Two and a Half Men wins an 11th season but Angus T. Jones will shift to a recurring role so that he can attend college. This change follows the 19 year old appearing in a YouTube clip saying, “If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men. I’m on Two and a Half Men and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth.”

CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler told reporters in January, “He’s been a beloved member of that cast for years and years and years and he issued a public apology. At the end of the day, they want him back and he wants to come back.”

Parenthood will return for a fifth season with 22 episodes. This comes despite the show having to wrap early at 15 episodes to make way for Smash.

Law and Order: SVU returns for its 15th season. While the show is not the ratings juggernaut it once was it remains a consistent performer on Wednesdays, a night that has been problematic for NBC.

It’s good news for Jay Ryan with new fantasy drama Beauty and the Beast winning a second season. The show recently won the People’s Choice Award for Favourite New Drama. More importantly it has enjoyed a 45 percent ratings bump among women 18-34 when counting seven days of PVR growth.

It is coming soon to ELEVEN.

  1. Parenthood – I just hope they don’t move it in the US as talk/rumor is if Grimm does well in the Tuesday time slot during the May sweeps it might stay their come next Fall.

I do hope Grimm does good but can find a new night or go back to Friday where its been doing well enough to also be renewed.

  2. Beauty and The Beast just scrapped over the line largely because CW is short of shows for next season. It rated 0.5/1 last week.

It was Favourite New Drama as voted online (so teenagers) – and People’s Choice make up categories to give awards to whatever celebrity will turn up to the ceremony.

CW also renewed Hart of Dixe as expected. Things aren’t looking good for The Carrie Diaries now though.

  3. Angus T Jones has only been appearing sporadically lately anyway. He’s come home on leave occasionally or been on skype talking to Alan. Glad about Parenthood, but don’t watch the others.

  4. Just a note David, Parenthood was always planned to have just 15 eps last season from the outset. I guess NBC saw the error in their ways given every show since Feb in the same time slot has struggled to rate.
