Celebrity Apprentice branded “morally bankrupt”

Brian Mannix calls Celebrity Apprentice ''a celebration of the worst in human nature under the high moral ground of raising money for charity.''

2013-05-16_0132Be careful who you book, they don’t always toe the line. But that’s what makes them interesting.

Rocker Brian Mannix (centre) hit out at Celebrity Apprentice this week after being eliminated from the show.

Earlier this week he told Fairfax ”It is a celebration of the worst in human nature under the high moral ground of raising money for charity.”

He later told News Limited, “It wasn’t fun at all. If you like arguing, cracking the shits and being a bitch then you’d love it but I found the whole experience a bit morally bankrupt.

“I had issues with some of the moral standards of the show.”

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant also said, “I probably could have argued a lot harder to stay on, but I didn’t want to.”

On Twitter he even accused the production of some nifty editing.

“When I got fired I said ‘sweet’ and shook Bouris’ hand. Dunno where that shot went?@TheApprentice9”

  1. Deni Hines absolutely destroyed what was left of her career by appearing on this show. Im surprised the other ‘celebs’ didn’t learn from that.

  2. I love it. This show gives me a good laugh. I’m confused as to why the boardroom portion of the show rates lower than the challenge though. The best bits happen in the boardroom!

  3. What he said about “…money being the criteria for Art..” was so eloquent and called the show for what it is. You could see Ms Jacenko armed with her buyers determined to get the high prices. In all that’s what it comes down to and Mr Mannix said as much. I’m pleased he pointed out all the gigs and appearances he’s done for charity without payment. This show is just a vehicle for the best dressed and best connected kids in the schoolyard to big note themselves. Sure they raise the dough for charity but really…if charity was the big issue then 9 would give the advertising revenue to the sick kids! No? I do feel for Prue McSween as she seems to constantly cop it. I know she’s a tough cookie and gets people off side but she’s up front, whereas..Ms Jacenko seems to be a pro at turning every squabble into someone else’s fault and has no qualms about making it all about her and throwing anyone under the bus. Rest easy Brian Mannix…you escaped! High moral ground of raising money for charity. Totally.

  4. I totally agree with Brian, you couldn’t possibly judge the art by their individual sale prices, it was a false market. Let’s face it, before Celebrity Apprentice who’d heard of Roxy Jacenko? She got the highest the sale price, not because she was the most popular of celebrities, or did she necessarily produce the best piece of art, she simply had a buyer lined up with deeper pockets than anyone else in the room. I thought Brian’s line hit the mark beautifully and summed up all that is wrong with how the contestants are often judged in fund raising challenges.

  5. The “bitches” on this show, are so horrible , I hope no one go nears them regarding work ..They are so nasty and despicable.Nothing uplifting.

  6. I’m by no means a fan of Brian, but I agreed with a couple of things he said in this episode. Firstly, he rightly pointed out that musicians generally donate their Time for charities, rather simply writing cheques, so it’s difficult for him to bring in the big money. That is quite true. Secondly, when criticised for making the least money on his photo, he said something like “if money was the criteria for art, then Justin Bieber would have to be the most talented artist in the world”. Hear hear.
