Egyptian abattoir to be exposed on 7:30

7.30 will reveal exclusive footage from the Egyptian abattoir which has seen live cattle exports being suspended.

2013-05-06_1251Tonight, 7.30 will reveal exclusive footage from the Egyptian abattoir at the centre of a new cruelty scandal.

Last week animal welfare group Animals Australia gave graphic evidence to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, leading to live cattle exports being suspended.

The last time ABC exposed footage of Australian cattle in an Indonesian abattoir on Four Corners it created national headlines.

ABC is warning of “harrowing” and “shocking” footage in the Matt Peacock story.

7.30 is hosted by Chris Uhlmann tonight and airs on ABC1.

  1. @Dr_Rudi has once again (imo) eloquently handled both this sad subject and @muscledude.
But no matter where you stand on the live export debate, I’m sure every thinking person is appalled by cruelty to animals in any form.
    I’ll leave it at that.

  2. @muscledude. (why am I not surprised).

Um, the industry has already voluntarily stopped exports to Egypt because of this information.

Er, the politicians only did what the vocal part of the public wanted.

And you forget that the Indonesians have scaled back all cattle imports (dead or alive) to try to create their own local industry.

  3. I’m getting sick of the ABC being used as a propaganda tool by Animals Australia. The last time politicians took notice of this crap they destroyed our live export trade with Indonesia.
