Selma Blair exits Anger Management after feud with Charlie Sheen

Updated: Selma Blair is out of Charlie Sheen sitcom, allegedly fired via text.

2013-06-19_1111Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management after a “heated battle” with Charlie Sheen, Lionsgate has confirmed.

“We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best,” the studio said in a statement.

Sheen no longer wanted to work with Blair, who plays his onscreen therapist, after she complained about his work ethic to the show’s executives, according to E!Online

TMZ reported earlier in the week tensions escalated as Sheen reportedly told producers he’d walk out on the show if Blair wasn’t fired.

While Sheen doesn’t have the exclusive right to fire anyone, industry sources note that he “certainly can make production impossible.”

Anger Management, which is currently shooting its second season, received a 90-episode order after its first season, but has experienced a decline in the ratings.

Update: Deadline alleges: “I hear Charlie Sheen “fired” her via text, in which he called the actress a “c***”. And it was not the only abusive, expletives-filled text she had received from Sheen, who also serves as an executive producer on Anger Management. I also hear that Blair was not the only member of the show’s cast and crew that was frustrated by Sheen’s work habits as I hear they would often sit and wait for hours for him to show up for work.”

  1. It’s beyond comprehension why anyone watches this crud. 2 1/2 Men passed its use-by date long before Sheen left and AM should never have been renewed for one episode let alone 90!. Boo hoo for its falling ratings, I hope it’s backers lose the lot.

  2. Always good to create a bit of excitement accompanied by a soon arriving new actor in hope to boost the viewer rates like House Rules. Don’t worry about Selma. She will appear in Two And A Half Men soon

  3. I was hoping Charlie had changed but who here really didn’t see something like this happening?

Selma Blair is great, love her in this show and hope she goes on to something better soon, might be hard so a new show as a main cast member this Fall as most have probably been cast by now.

  4. This is what happens when you treat a mediocre actor as some kind of God-touched genius just because his sitcom is unfeasibly popular, instead of crediting the creators, writers, and dumb luck.

  5. I read an article yesterday where he wanted her fired and for Mila Kunis to have a ten episode appearance worth a million an episode, but I didn’t think this would actually happen. The show is terrific, and Selma’s dry humour really suited it allowing for a balance between all the jokes going on between characters. Really don’t know how the show will go making another 60 episodes if it only took 40 for Charlie’s behaviour to have a main cast member fired.
