The Observer Effect: June 23

Updated: Odd-couple interviews with Clive Palmer and Seal -but does Seal take aim at "trash media?"

seal obThis Sunday night on The Observer Effect Ellen Fanning interviews two men from two extremes: Clive Palmer and Seal.

I’m hearing Seal didn’t discuss last week’s Joel Madden scandal or his abuse aimed at “trash media.”

Just days after he caused a Twitter storm and then guided his protégé Harrison Craig to victory on The Voice, Seal will reveal what really drives him in an exclusive interview with Ellen Fanning on The Observer Effect this Sunday night on SBS ONE at 8.30pm.

In his only major interview this year the Grammy-Award-winning singer/songwriter opens up to Ellen about his life growing up under Margaret Thatcher, his inspirations and what he still hopes to achieve in his career.

Seal made headlines last week when he tweeted that he couldn’t wait to leave the country after news broke that marijuana was found in the room of his fellow Voice judge, Joel Madden.

He quickly deleted the tweet but has now joined Ellen to talk about his time in Australia and how the news of the world shapes his own views and life and how he fears the internet more than he fears drugs. Seal even goes as far as to offer his thoughts on domestic politics and whether he has grown to view Australia as a racist nation.

He said of Twitter: “I’m worried about this kind of world we are creating and this kind of world our children will grow up to see.”

The Observer Effect uses current events as an opportunity to probe into the lives of Australia’s most influential, powerful and popular people.

Also joining Ellen this week will be controversial mining magnate Clive Palmer who has, in just a few short months, announced the formation of a new political party and the launch of a replica of the Titanic.

8:30pm Sunday on SBS ONE.
