2013-07-08_1347_001Arena will broadcast Reaching The Mark, a one-hour special about  The International Woolmark Prize, screening on Thursday July 18 at 9.30pm, following the announcement of the Australian finalist for the 2013/14 Prize.

This unique special takes the audience on an intimate journey as it follows eight designers from all over the world, including Australian designer Dion Lee, competing in The International Woolmark Prize 2012/13. Each designer must produce and show a six piece Merino wool collection to a panel of industry experts, including fashion icon Victoria Beckham and renowned designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Donatella Versace at London Fashion Week.

Offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the fashion world, we are given an insight into the contestants’ aspirations, anxieties, humour and determination as they await the final winner announcement.

The International Woolmark Prize is a fashion design award that identifies the most important designers of the future whilst highlighting the modernity of Merino wool within their collections. The initiative crosses borders and cultures by recognising outstanding new talent from emerging and established fashion hotspots around the globe including: Australia, Europe, China, USA, India and Japan.

The winner is awarded $100,000 AUD to invest in the development of their business and have their collection stocked in leading department stores across the globe including David Jones, Australia; Bergdorf Goodman, New York; Harvey Nichols, London and Joyce, China.

Reaching The Mark offers a truly intimate insight into the passion and talent behind the glamour of the fashion industry.
