Sandra Sully bullied by former TEN colleague

Sandra Sully says she was bullied by a former colleague across a ten year period at Network TEN.

2013-08-19_1212Sandra Sully has told a magazine she was bullied by a former colleague across a ten year period at Network TEN.

“It escalated to a level where I was very distressed… She would sabotage events or issues relating to my work,” she said.

“Her behaviour was underhanded and deceitful.”

“She tried to control me by painting me as difficult, demanding and high maintenance.

“She used those old tricks of flirting with bosses and using her feminine wiles to present me as demanding ‘talent’ to her superiors and they all fell for it. She was a toxic person. It was about control.”

Sully says she has spoken out to help young women.

“I’ve been reluctant to talk about this previously, but I do think CLEO is the right place to tell young women that you can’t be afraid to call out inappropriate behaviour.”

  1. @Riga have you read the actual interview in Cleo or just the snippets in newspapers? You’re grasping at straws. She stated she hopes by speaking out that she helps other young women. Never does she say or imply that only young women get bullied. Because she didn’t mention older women does that mean they don’t get bullied either?

  2. I’ve seen this time and time again and been a victim of it in this industry. So many women in power are misogynists, and it ends up on the screen in the portrayal of onscreen female characters. I think it’s an even bigger problem than anyone realises.

  3. As another female who has suffered twice at the hands of female bullies in the workplace, I sympathise with Ms Sully. It is a very bewildering experience when you are singled out and bullied in this manner, you feel completely helpless and alone. Unfortunately, the workplace is full of very damaged people who think nothing of bullying co-workers, it is a common occurrence that is virtually impossible to prevent or stamp out.

  4. Benji77 & mistaken. Many of the women who read Cleo will have brothers, boyfriends, fathers, sons, uncles and male colleagues, some of whom may also be suffering bullying at work. For a high profile person to focus on just half of the population is at best an opportunity missed, at worst it is sexism in perpetuating the myth that only women are victims.

  5. Sad to hear this happened to Sandra. Women can be other women’s worst enemies. (As I’m sure men can – but unfortunately some women have psychological bullying down pat.) She’s definitely brave to talk about this publicly.

  6. Riga and maxxdude most men, young or old don’t read Cleo magazine which was who published the interview.

Takes courage to speak out and Sandra should be applauded for doing so.

  7. Every sympathy with SS. I like to see bullies outed as it puts a strain on the whole family group. Expose them and their modus operandi and it stops them. I guess SS can’t do this as it would result in a legal stoush

  8. Sandra’s had a rough ride over the years with her fame. She had a stalker in the early years, and then this protracted scenario. She carries herself with great warmth and conviction. Interesting what it can attract too.
