Ben in Big Brother eviction hoax

Big Brother's Ben last night was giddy with glee upon learning he hadn't been evicted in an entertaining episode.

Ben Hoax Eviction - 4Big Brother‘s Ben last night was giddy with glee upon learning he hadn’t been evicted and was the subject of an eviction hoax.

While his housemates were openly sobbing at his “eviction” instead he was shuffled into the adjoining Presidential Suite and let in on the gag.

Big Brother told him: “Ben, despite what your fellow Housemates think, you have not been evicted. Australia has decided that you will not only remain in the Big Brother game but that you will return to the House with an advantage. Over the next 24 hours you will be given power and insight above and beyond that ever afforded to a Big Brother Housemate.

“Ben, you have a rare opportunity to spy on, question and stage manage your fellow Housemates.”

After watching his housemates on monitors, he will be put back into the house today (airing tomorrow night).

Less fortunate was Matt, who was legitimately evicted before housemates and audience.

Last night’s episode was very entertaining as conflict saw Mikkayla and Tahan in a shouting match, while the intense relationship between Drew and Tully is slowly imploding.

  1. I think that Ben is great – quirky, idiosyncratic, a little different, and unintentionally funny.
Is he playing the game as hard as Tim? Not sure about that.
But, I reckon the final 2 will be Ben and Tim.

  2. My problem with Ben is that he’s a character. He doesn’t really interact well with the other people. He’s in his own little Ben centered bubble. Just floating through the show.

I don’t like how everyone treats him like a child, yet that is how his ‘character’ wants to be treated and all it’ll accept.

He totally is performing for the cameras. High lighted by the fact he has no inner monologue. Dead set performing.

My other problem with him is that his appeal seems to basically be that he’s Mr Bean. He’s in a strange confusing world. Everything he does, is apparently amusing. You watch an audience show. Everything he does is apparently hilarious.

I do not watch a show like Big Brother for some Mr Beanesque character that’s a grown man acting like a child interacting with a new toy for the first time.

  3. I have thought since day one that Ben was (and is) playing the game, possibly harder than anyone else. I think he is very smart, he’s not pretending to be anyone he’s not, just making himself into a bit of a caricature.
I don’t doubt for a minute that he is a bit of an ‘outcast’ in the real world, but a few things that he does make me think that he is playing to the crowd in a big way.
The chats to his Mum and Nan’s photos, the constant emphasis on his ‘Best and Less’ pyjamas etc (a subtle way of pointing out that he needs the money more than others), and his frequent emphasis that he is the only one not playing the game, he’s just there for the social experiment.
I could be reading way to much into things, but I also thought that his Mum had really toned down her behaviour at last nights eviction show. Maybe someone had a bit of a word to her?
    Anyway, it’s just my…

  4. I like Ben but for some reason I would be annoyed if he won over Tim, as Tim has been the most strategic of all and is the better BB player. Also, having two Ben’s from two seasons win in a row would annoy me.

  5. I’m enjoying this series too, in part I think as I can relate to the Tully and Drew situation having been in something similar myself. My situation fell apart in the end and it’s interesting watching the motions these two are going through as I see so many similarities to what I went through. I agree David, they are slowly imploding and it’s compelling viewing.

With regards to Ben, I really don’t get his appeal. He doesn’t do anything really. I don’t mean to sound horrible, but to me he comes across as somewhat pathetic. If he wins over someone like Tim who really adds to the show, it will be a travesty for what has been a great series so far.

  6. I am loving this years BB, so good to see the more “boring” players getting boned earlier on, hopefully next week Ed gets the boot. It would be great to have the house full of conflict and super bitches.

  7. Ben will fall apart once he’s back in the house and realises the consequences of what has happened. He’s a very fragile (and somewhat needy) character and I think, while it feels like fun now, when some of the housemates inevitably turn on him a little when he goes back in, he’ll struggle to deal with the ramifications.

  8. I think Ben is a lovely person but I don’t feel he’s playing the game or making an effort with the others (unless his personality is all an act). Now hes not even bothering to get out of his PJs during the day. I’d be surprised if he actually utilises this advantage to its potential.

  9. I prefer Tahan’s personality (speak before you think) to Tim’s. Tim is mean, conniving, egocentric. A manipulating narcissist. And the public loves that?
As for Matthew being evicted? What did he bring to our entertainment? All he did was sleep, yawn, eat, do some weightlifting and kick a footy. BTW ppl, Tully was not up for eviction.
Ben on the other hand – he is a real entertainer. When he told Drew he was from NIDA and this was ‘the role of his life’ I actually believed him. I thought as much from the first week he was in the house. LOL. Hope he will be able to make the most of this advantage BB has bestowed on him – although I doubt it.

  10. Tahan has one of those personality’s that are large majority find quite humorous and entertaining. She’ll say the harshest thing without thinking, I have this same trait like I’ll get pissed off with what someone does and I’ll call them a ‘Stupid Mole’ but I don’t actually mean it I’ll feel bad about it 5 mins later. It’s funny to watch, she’s also probably getting a lot of votes from 15 year old girls as that is the kind of girl they are trying to be friends with in the real world (as scary as that is)

  11. I can’t believe Tahan is still in the house, yet alone was the second most saved last night. The only reason why she’s in the house is because she’s hot. She’s not honest or real, she’s just rude.

Anyway, I’m glad they pulled this fake eviction off very well. I remember when they tried to trick the housemates last year, and they failed terribly.

  12. I like Tahan and I did like Mykkala until she admitted she was a LNP supporter.

Glad Matt has gone – next it’s Drew to give Tully another reason to have a tantrum.

Seriously who is saving this woman?

As for Ben – when he wins Big Brother (it’s a given) will Nine get Bert Newton to greet him on stage? I don’t work for Nine – but I can just feel this is in the works.

  13. Although a I agree the vote to save instead of evict keeps more of the polarizing players inside, I really can’t see why people support players like Tully and Tahan. Also, I think Facebook voting has the potential to be exploited in situations like this.

  14. I thought Ed would be the one to go, he has even less to offer than Matt did. I can’t stand Tahan or Tully either, they should have gone ages ago.
The support group for Ed must have been very strong.
I can’t wait to see the look on the other housemates faces when Ben returns.

  15. I was surprised that Tahan didn’t go but very surprised that Matthew was evicted. Anyways it was very funny watching Ben when Sonia informed him of the situation. Go Ben, give those housemates a good shake up!
