Modern Family to film in Australia?

Producers confirm they are keen to film an episode of Modern Family in Australia.

2013-09-18_1200Modern Family may film an episode in Australia.

Executive producer Steve Levitan told Fairfax they were very keen to bring the show to Australia, possibly in its current fifth season.

This would follow on from previous vacation episodes set in Hawaii, Florida, Wyoming and LA’s Disneyland.

The show’s production team is reportedly investigating the logistics of moving cast and key crew to Australia for the episode.

This would be fabulous to see, and as we know Eric Stonestreet is a big fan of visiting our shores. He presented at the ARIA Awards years before signing on for a retail campaign.

“Presenting on the stage of the Sydney Opera House, how iconic is that?’ But I was on the steps… a big difference…,” he later told TV Tonight.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox studios said it was too soon to confirm anything.

New episodes return to TEN on Sunday September 29th.

ps. Australia would make a great Honeymoon destination for any Modern Family wedding. Just sayin’.

  1. I love that episode of The Simpsons
“I see you’ve played knifey spoony before!”
Australians were once able to laugh at themselves instead of getting “offended” by everything…

  2. @Tony Bee: But the Aussie episode of The Simpsons follows other episodes that have come both before and after where they visit other countries and everything is wrong or a stereotype. To quote McBain: “That’s the joke.”

  3. Doubt a Mitchell and Cameron honeymoon would happen in a country that doesn’t allow same sex marriage.

Imagine the jealousy that would arise if they honeymooned in NZ instead?

  4. from what i’ve heard, the season premiere should be an iconic moment of television. such a shame it has been scheduled in a slot where it will probably been seen by a mere 600k in Australia.

    1. A wedding for Cameron and Mitchell would be great to see but not sure it qualifies as iconic on that basis alone. We’ve had gay weddings on TV before. Is Madonna singing at the reception or something? That might elevate it, if it comes to pass.
