2013 Screen Music Awards honours John Polson

Actor, director and Tropfest founder John Polson will receive the International Achievement Award at the Screen Music Awards.

2013-11-28_0041Actor, director and Tropfest founder John Polson will receive the International Achievement Award at the Screen Music Awards for his outstanding contribution to the film and television industry next month.

Polson’s career includes feature films, Swimfan, (2002), Hide and Seek (2005), and US TV directing credits The Mentalist, The Good Wife, Without a Trace, Lie to Me, Blue Bloods and Fringe. He is currently the Director and Co-Executive Producer of Elementary.

Tropfest has now added USA, Malaysia, New Zealand and the Middle East to its international presence.

“It is a huge honour to accept this Award. I feel truly humbled to have the APRA AMCOS Board of Publisher and Writer Directors recognize my work in this way” says Polson. “I’d like to thank APRA AMCOS for their ongoing support of Tropfest and of the Film and Television industry in general. With their support, we as an industry can continue to push boundaries, foster creativity and develop an exciting future for ourselves.”

Hosted by Andrew Hansen and Chris Taylor, this year the Screen Music Awards will also sell tickets to the public for the first time.

Presenters this year include Rob Carlton, Matt Day, Tara Morice, producer Helen Bowden with performances by Emma Birdsall and Ignatius Jones.
