National Geographic will screen a documentary on the Bundaberg Rum -presumably not branded entertainment!

2013-11-01_1442National Geographic Channel will screen a documentary on the Bundaberg Rum, produced by Northern Pictures.

Presumably this one isn’t just branded entertainment given the various parties involved!

As of 22 November 2013, the Bundaberg Distilling Company will have been producing Australia’s beloved Bundaberg Rum for 125 years. To commemorate the milestone, the team at Bundaberg Distilling Co. has crafted their most exceptional rum to date.

From the cane trains and molasses wells through to fermentation, distillation, and the bottling plant, National Geographic Channel has exclusive access to the process behind crafting Australia’s first super deluxe rum.

This remarkable Aussie megafactory has become an integral part of the community from which it takes its name. Earlier this year, Bundaberg Rum helped the town to get back on its feet following the devastation of the Queensland floods with donations, assistance with clean-up efforts and a special release Road to Recovery Bundaberg Rum.

Just nine months before the company’s 125th Anniversary, the town of Bundaberg flooded for the second time in only three years. After the water went down, it left behind 2.4 billion dollars’ worth of damage.

Employees took time of work to help the community rebuild – but will stopping to help their town mean the distillery misses its anniversary deadline?

As Bundaberg Distilling Co. Site Manager, Graham Wrigglesworth knows better than anyone how important the factory is to the town of Bundaberg.

“I have the best job in the world, not only because of the work we do, but our commitment to giving back to – and being an integral part of – the Bundaberg community.”

“You can see that strong sense of Aussie spirit shining through in every aspect of our work, not just our flood recovery efforts, but in our innovation and craftsmanship” said Graham.

Bundaberg Rum Megafactory airs 8:30pm Tuesday November 12 on Nat Geo.
