One Plus One: Eric Bana

“I’m quite an introverted person,” Eric Bana tells Jane Hutcheon, so making people laugh was “a bit of a juxtaposition.”

ebanaActor Eric Bana appears on interview show One Plus One this week.

In a wide-ranging interview with Jane Hutcheon, he talks about playing the late criminal Mark Chopper Read, Bana’s pivotal, first role in drama. The film was released in 2000.

He tells One Plus One he’s never rejected a script for ideological reasons.

“I don’t think it’s my job as an actor to pass judgement of characters… I think that can be really dangerous and limiting.”

In the half-hour interview he also discusses his upbringing and how he found he could make people laugh by doing impersonations.

“I’m quite an introverted person,” he tells Hutcheon, so making people laugh was “a bit of a juxtaposition.”

Despite working with Hollywood’s A-list, Bana spends most of his time in Melbourne with his wife and two children.

Bana is starring in as well as having the Australian distribution for the film Closed Circuit.

One Plus One airs on Fridays at 11.30am on ABC1 and is repeated at: 8.30pm on Friday, 5.30pm on Saturday, and 9.30pm on Sunday on ABC NEWS 24.
