ABC has confirmed a broadcast time for Doctor Who “The Time Of The Doctor” on Boxing Day.
This marks the exit of Matt Smith as the Time Lord and the arrival of actor Peter Capaldi.
Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor.
Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.
It airs Thursday December 26 at 7.30pm on ABC1 and will be followed by the Call the Midwife Christmas special at 8:30pm.

I’d also like to thank the ABC very much for this. As well as the BBC for making it. Matt Smith has been a wonderful Doctor.
Can’t wait for this one, sad to see Matt going but should be a nice change of pace with Peter.
+1 to the Great boxing day programming. Christmas schedules are usually appalling in Australia. Even foxtel has nothing good on over christmas. Hopefully Chatty Man’s christmas day ep will be shown on ABC2 on boxing day too.
Yeah, two my favourites shows back to back, great boxing day programming.
Thank you ABC
