Tenplay targets kids

TEN has announced a kid-friendly version of its catch-up service with cartoons and live action for kids and pre-schoolers.

Tenplay Kids will launch on Monday, December 9 at tenplay.com.au/kids with on-demand video for cartoons, kids and pre-school programs, including Totally Wild, Scope, Mako: Island of Secrets, Wurrawhy and the new series Matt Hatter Chronicles, which will premiere on ELEVEN in December.

From January 2014, iCarly, Pokémon and a refreshed format of Hi-5, to be known as Hi-5 House, will also be featured on ELEVEN and will be available on tenplay Kids.

Network Ten’s Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne, said: “We are very excited to create a new home for children’s entertainment online.

“Since it launched on September 30 this year, tenplay has been an instant hit with consumers.

“The addition of tenplay Kids is just the start of a series of new content and distribution initiatives we will roll out for tenplay over the next 12 months,” she said.

Network TEN’s Head of Children’s Television, Cherrie Bottger, said: “We are thrilled to have secured the digital rights for many of our key children’s programs so that they are available on tenplay Kids immediately after broadcast on ELEVEN.

“tenplay Kids further cements our commitment to children’s entertainment.”

Other programs will include Victorious, Beyblade Metal Fury, BeyWheelz, B-Damon Crossfire, Invizimals, Slugterra, Mia and Me, Monster High,  SheZow,  Care Bears, Dinosaur Train, Strawberry Shortcake, Tree Fu Tom and new animated Australian titles Jar Dwellers and Vic the Viking.

TEN has always enjoyed a strong voice in kid’s content with more than 1300 hours of content a year.

  1. Nice that Ten are catering for the kids but they need to cater for their adult audience and fix the news on Tenplay. Geoblocking has made the service redundant. ‘Anywhere, anytime’ couldn’t be any further from the truth if you’re outside of NSW/Vic.
