Paula Abdul launches legal action over suntanning burn

So You Think You Can Dance judge launches legal proceedings against a US tanning company over alleged burns in 2012.

2014-01-12_0059Upcoming So You Think You Can Dance judge Paula Abdul has commenced legal proceedings against a US tanning company, after claiming that she burned her leg during a tanning treatment in 2012.

Abdul filed a lawsuit on Thursday against UVASUN West, Inc., stating that she suffered severe burns on Jan. 20, 2012, following a tanning treatment.

She alleges a SlimStar infrared body wrap treatment was applied “negligently, carelessly and recklessly” and led her to suffer “severe and painful burns all over her body, with an especially severe second- or third-degree burn on a portion of the plaintiff’s left thigh.”

The injuries continue to “great mental, physical and nervous strain, pain and suffering, and loss of earnings potential,” and required her to seek medical attention and expenses.

It is also claimed she suffered a loss of income due to the injuries and is seeking unspecified amounts in excess of $25,000.

Abdul will return to Australia soon for So You Think You Can Dance on TEN.
