2014-01-29_0013Quaint UK whodunnit series Father Brown has been renewed for a third series by BBC One.

Based on the stories by GK Chesterton, the series stars Mark Williams as the crime-solving Roman Catholic priest.

  1. It looks like perfect unchallenging daytime fair to me. I couldn’t get into it.

It is an awkward mix of 1950s costumes and Chesterton’s catholic theology and modern BBC political correctness and language. The plots aren’t interesting — Father Brown just eventually stumbles across the killer with a flashback reveal and summation at the end. The characters aren’t particularly interesting and the supporting characters just come and go randomly. The dialogue put me to sleep and it is visually uninteresting.
